The UniVirtual Solutions IT Knowledge Base
This IT knowledge base gives short, plain English answers to the questions our help desk gets asked most, written for the people who actually use the systems rather than the people who run them.
Every guide in the knowledge base is written for the person at the keyboard, not the administrator. If a step asks for an administrator password, stop there and call us rather than guessing.
There are 35 guides in the IT knowledge base across seven topics: getting help, security and phishing, accounts and passwords, email and Microsoft 365, phones and VoIP, devices and everyday IT, and AI at work. Start with a topic, or use the lists below.
A few guides are worth reading before anything goes wrong: spotting phishing emails, multi-factor authentication and what to include in a support request. The rest of the knowledge base is there for the day you need it.
Guides for owners and managers, such as the IT checklist when someone leaves, sit in the same knowledge base and use the same plain language.
Nothing in the knowledge base is behind a login, so you can share a link with a colleague, a new hire or a family member who uses the same tools at home.
How To Use This IT Knowledge Base
Each guide in the knowledge base opens with a short answer in the first few lines. If that is all you need, stop there. The rest of the page explains why, covers the exceptions and answers the questions people ask next.
Guides are checked against the systems we support, and dated where the details change often, such as AI tool settings. If something no longer matches what you see on screen, tell us and we will fix the guide.
Security advice in this IT knowledge base follows public guidance from CISA, including its guidance on recognizing and reporting phishing, so what you read here matches what you will hear elsewhere.
When The Knowledge Base Is Not Enough
Some problems should not be solved from a guide. If something looks wrong rather than broken, such as files renaming themselves or an account sending emails nobody wrote, skip the knowledge base and call the 24/7 security line at 678-374-4352, option 1.
For everything else a guide is usually the fastest route. If it does not solve the problem, open a ticket and say which guide you tried. That tells the engineer what has already been ruled out.
If a guide got you most of the way but not all of it, that is useful to us too. Tell us where it stopped matching, and the next person who reads it will not get stuck in the same place.
